Virtual Book Club - Work for What's Next
During July's Design POP Virtual Book Club, our community explored Amanda Schneider's Work for What's Next (available on on Amazon, Barnes & Noble or Bookshop.org), diving into the changing expectations around workplace culture, leadership, mentorship, and the future of work. While the book introduces ten key shifts shaping today's workplace, from embracing "phygital" experiences to redefining mentorship and learning in the AI era, the discussion quickly became personal as attendees shared their own experiences leading multigenerational teams and navigating hybrid work.
What emerged was a clear theme: great workplace culture isn't built around generations—it's built around trust, communication, and intentional connection. Participants exchanged ideas about flexible work, authentic leadership, recognizing employees, creating meaningful mentorship opportunities, and using AI as a tool to ask better questions rather than simply find faster answers. The lively chat reinforced that every generation brings valuable perspectives, and that the future belongs to organizations willing to learn, adapt, and build cultures where people truly belong.
Thank you to everyone who joined the conversation and shared your insights. These discussions are what make The Design POP community so special, and we look forward to continuing the conversation at our next month's webinar!
